He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Charlotte; twin brother Howard Weinstein (Betty); children David Weinstein (Meryl), Lynne McCollum (Matt) and Caryn Schroeder (Justin); grandchildren Brandon (Nicole), Aaron, Evan, Rachel, Kyle, Noah, and Ellie; sisters-in-law Rachel Griffith and Sherry Weinstein; brothers-in-law Mark Griffith (Bronwyn) and Karl Griffith (Terry); many nieces and nephews; as well as countless close friends.
Stuart was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ida Weinstein; brother Marvin Weinstein; and brother-in-law David Griffith.
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, he attended Peterson Elementary, graduated from Von Stueben High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois.
Stuart excelled in sales and marketing, and used his skills during his long career in the health care industry to ensure those needing dental and mental health services had access to care. His work allowed him to live in numerous cities coast to coast, including: Chicago, Illinois (and surrounding suburbs); Bellevue, Washington; Concord and Walnut Creek, California; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Woodland Hills, California; and Bedford, Texas.
He not only took pride in his career, but truly relished the friends he and Charlotte made in each city they lived. Whether a neighbor, local pharmacist or life-long friend, Stuart made a lasting connection with each person he met. He greeted all with a smile on his face and twinkle in his eye, and brought such joy to those around him.
Stuart enjoyed many things – animals, golf, hometown sports teams (Go Cubs!), traveling, old movies, a good hot dog – but it was his love of family, friends and faith that gave him the strength to fight for as long as he did. Last year, he fulfilled a life-long dream of visiting Jerusalem, just weeks after one of his numerous heart procedures. His positive spirit and determination was contagious and admired by all who knew him.
A memorial service honoring Stuart will be held on Friday, October 13 at 11:30 a.m. at Congregation B'nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim, 1201 Lake Cook Rd, Deerfield, Illinois. The family will also honor Stuart with a private memorial in Dallas, Texas at a later date.
He will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the American Heart Association in his honor.
Arrangements under the direction of NEPTUNE SOCIETY - Fort Worth, Fort Worth, TX.
