

Sharon “Sherri” Nell Ray, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by her family.
Born on October 21, 1946, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Ernest and Helen Johns, Sherri spent her early years in Arizona before her family made their home in Fort Worth, Texas. She earned her associate degree and went on to build a long and dedicated career with General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin, where she was known for her strong work ethic and steady professionalism. After retiring, she settled in Saginaw, Texas, where she enjoyed a life filled with family, friendship, and adventure.
Sherri embraced the world with curiosity and joy. She loved traveling across the country, soaring in hot air balloons, and sailing aboard catamarans—experiences that reflected her adventurous spirit. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family created memories that will be cherished for generations.
Those left to honor her memory include her son and daughter in law, Jeffrey and Tracy Smith; her daughter and son in law, Tamera and Christian Ripke; her grandchildren, Jacob Stafford and wife Mallory, Jaron Stafford and wife Janelle, Erin Tran and husband Keith, and Nicole Ripke; great-grandchildren, Aletheia, Vivian and Dawson. She is also survived by her sisters, Kathy and Melinda, and her niece, Lisa.
Sherri’s legacy is one of love, adventure, and devotion to family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
