Born on August 18, 1931 in Tyler, Texas, a city he loved and never truly left, in his heart.
Rudy attended Tyler public schools, graduating from John Tyler High School in 1948, where he was a member of the marching band and college dance band. He graduated from Tyler Junior College in 1950 and then graduated from North Texas State (now University of North Texas) in 1952, where he was a charter member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity chapter. He did graduate work at North Texas and TCU and had a long career at General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) in Fort Worth.
Rudy served in the US Navy during the Korean war in the early 1950’s and retired from Lockheed Martin after a long and successful career.
He was a lifelong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in 1948 and later serving as an adult leader.
He was also a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, both in Tyler and Fort Worth.
Rudy loved the outdoors and pursued many interests throughout his life, including boating, fishing, camping, biking, and photography. An enthusiastic woodworker and World War II history buff, he always had a project going or large history tome to keep him occupied. He also loved good music and frequently annoyed his wife by insisting on some fine music rather than the TV.
He enjoyed travel, meandering road trips, and international adventures.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, R.B. and Fannie Bae Rosenstein, and sister Mary Nell Rosenstein.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ellen Cline Rosenstein, son Russell Rosenstein and wife Debbie, daughter Catherine Rosenstein Manno and husband Chris, son Alan Rosenstein, and his beloved grandchildren, Brian Rosenstein and Claire Manno.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to First United Methodist Church Fort Worth Youth Ministry.
Memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in the Leonard Chapel of FUMC Fort Worth
