Ron was born on November 25, 1946, in Stockton, California. He was the only child of Alfred and Ruth Heist. As a young man, he grew up in a baseball household as his father was a professional baseball player.
Ron was a devoted husband to Donna and very proud father of his only child Kevin. For the past eight years he shared his big heart with his beloved Molly (Yorkie). In 1995, they moved the family to Europe for a new position with his work. Taking advantage of this opportunity was one of the best decisions they made.
He served over 30 years of combined active and reserve duty with the United States Navy, and another 25 years of service as a civilian with the Department of Defense. Two years after retirement, he continued giving to his country as an inspector for a private government contractor. As mentioned by his last employer, “his inspection stamp will be a living legacy in America’s aerospace defense for decades to come.”
Despite living in Texas for a third of his life, he remained an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. He thoroughly loved going on road trips with Kevin to see them play. Their bond wasn't limited to just football. Afterall, this was a baseball-first household. He went to countless baseball games with Kevin and in 2016, like millions of others, he finally witnessed his beloved Chicago Cubs finally win it all!
Ron will forever be remembered as a genuinely good man that was liked by everyone that had the pleasure of meeting him. We were incredibly blessed and honored to call him Husband, Dad and Friend.
