Roger Eugene Winn of North Richland Hills, Texas passed away on Wednesday September 20, 2023 at the age of eighty three after a lengthy illness. He was born on April 6, 1940 in Kansas City Missouri and later moved to Wichita, Kansas where he grew up.
He graduated from North High School where he participated in sports and was on the tennis team. Roger continued his education at Wichita State University where in 1965 he received his B.A. in Sociology He received his M.A. in Adult Continuing Education in 1978 from the University of Nebraska.
Roger worked as a management professional in the Human Resources area in hospitals while in Kansas and after moving to Pinellas County Florida, He spent over 15 years in the life and health insurance business in Florida.
He was actively involved in Pinellas County Florida United Way and served as Chairman of the Hospital Division for 2 years; He was president of Pinellas County Florida Junior Achievement for 2 years; He was Chairman of the Board for the Episcopal Pastoral Counseling Center. Roger was listed in the Who’s Who in the South/Southeast 1980,1981,1982 and 1983
He was preceded in death by his Parents Anne Madden Winn and Billy Ross Winn and his Former Wife Saundra Arp Winn.
Roger is survived by his Wife Janet Smith Winn; Brother Richard Winn and Wife Karen of Kansas; Son Ross Edward Winn and Daughter Amy Kathleen Winn of Florida; Son Scott Winn and Wife Deidra of Wiley; Grandsons John Ross Winn of Florida, Blaine Garrett Winn and Jack Leyton Winn of Wiley and Granddaughter Whitney Winn of Austin and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roger’s friends know him to be a devout Christian as well as a sweet gentle kind man who always put God and his family above all else.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass to be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Community, 1000 Tinker Road, Colleyville, TX 76034 on Monday, October 16 at 11:00 am. Rosary to be held Sunday, October 15 at 5:00 pm in the Chapel. Visitation with the family will begin after each service with a lunch reception including personal Eulogies following the Memorial Mass.
Interment to follow at a later date in Wichita Kansas.
