Roger John Black

Roger John Black 87, passed away November 18, 2017 in Fort Worth, TX. Roger was born on January 7, 1930 in Johnstown, PA to Chester DeVaughn Black and Frances Marie Mitchell Black. In 1947, at the age of 17, Roger joined the Air Force where he proudly served his country for over 25 years, retiring in 1973. While in Spokane,WA Roger met his future bride, Shirley Margaret McHargue Black. They were married on December 30, 1954.

Roger had many interests and especially enjoyed woodworking with a passion for making beautiful mantel clocks. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, Roger will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Shirley Black of Mineral Wells, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Lee Ann Black of Hawkins, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Eric Felt of Mineral Wells, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Karl Broom of Great Falls, VA; sister, Annabelle McNamee of Cheyenne, WY; brother, Ellis Black of Buffalo, WY; grandson and his wife, Eric and Rocio Black of Benbrook, TX; granddaughters, Michelle Chase of Hawkins, TX, Kaitlin Chase of Australia and Espee Astorga of Benbrook; nephew and his wife, Brian and Elsa Torres of Miami, FL; numerous other family, friends and a host of friends.

Graveside services will be held at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
