Born to William and Mary McCreery on May 25, 1942, in Sarver, Pennsylvania, Bob worked in a feed mill before graduating from Freeport High School in 1960. He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1966. His journey began in England at Royal Air Force Bentwaters under Daniel “Chappie” James Jr., continued with stops at Lowry AFB in Colorado and Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio, and ended with an honorable discharge in 1966.
After working in banking, Bob spent several years in the insurance industry while simultaneously managing L&M Campground in Penn Run, Pennsylvania. He later returned to banking in Boulder, Colorado, where he became Vice President of Boulder Federal Credit Union.
While in Boulder, he met the love of his life, Marolyn, and they began their 38-year marriage in April 1988. After their move to Texas, he worked briefly alongside his father-in-law in the custom home building business. He later found his calling as an outfitter as the owner and operator of High Country Adventures in Colorado.
The lifelong relationships built through adventures from Morapos Creek into the White River National Forest defined his vocational dream. He loved the great outdoors, penned profound poetry, and invested significant, meaningful time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marolyn; daughters Rhonda Goodall and husband Doug of Jacksonville, Florida, and Melody Mabry Touchon and husband David of Boerne, Texas; and sons Rob McCreery and wife Trish of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Blake Mabry and wife Adrina of Fort Worth, Texas.
He also leaves behind 11 cherished grandchildren: Carissa, Casey, Zach, Julian, Sage, Ella, Niles, Violet, Braeden, Emersyn, and Canon.
Though his presence will be deeply missed, we are grateful he is Home, healed, and whole.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Knights of Comfort Hospice and Golden Creek Residential Care for the love, kindness, and dignity they showed throughout this journey. Their gentle care and unwavering support brought comfort not only to Bob but to the entire family, and their kindness will forever remain in our hearts.
A memorial service will be held at The Table Community Church, 6011 W. Bailey Boswell Rd., Fort Worth, TX 76179, on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Long Haul Marriage and Blast & Cast Men’s Ministry.
