Peggy Ann Genn, 82, of North Richland Hills, Texas, passed away on September 8, 2026. Her passing leaves an immeasurable space in the lives of the family she loved so deeply and who loved her just as fiercely. She was a devoted wife, a proud mother, a beloved Nana, and a steady presence her family could always count on.
Peggy was born on August 31, 1944, in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, to John and Bessie Wright. She carried with her the strength and determination of the family who raised her, along with the wonderfully dry sense of humor she inherited from her mother. Those who knew Peggy knew she was hardworking, strong, and never afraid to say exactly what she thought, often with a perfectly timed remark that could make everyone laugh.
Throughout her life, Peggy’s greatest source of joy and pride was her family. Of everything she accomplished, she was most proud of her children. As her family grew, she became Nana, a name that held more love and meaning than any other title ever could. She treasured her grandchildren and the life her children built around her.
Peggy married Zeke Genn on May 25, 1991. Over the next 35 years, they built a life together filled with the everyday moments, shared experiences, and lasting memories that make a marriage and a home.
She is survived by her husband, Zeke Genn; her daughter, Tammie Miller and husband Thomas of Honeybrook, Pennsylvania; her son, Richard Copeland and wife Glenda of Plano, Texas; and her son, Robert Copeland and wife Vanessa of North Richland Hills, Texas.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Desiree Jernigan and husband Jarell, Kristen Boyd, Christopher Boyd, Paul Copeland, Elyza Copeland, and Reis Copeland; her sisters, Pauleen Carlton and Pat Orrick and husband Bill; and many other family members who will carry her memory with them.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bessie Wright; her brothers, Fred Wright, J.B. Wright, Robert Wright, Jimmy Wright, and Willie Wright; her sisters, Lou Byrne and Audrey Rose; and many other beloved family members.
Peggy spent her life working hard and caring for the people and places entrusted to her. She worked as a loan officer at a savings and loan bank in Plano and later served as secretary at First Baptist Church of Wynnewood. Falls Creek became more than a workplace to her. It was an important part of her life and a place she called home. She lived on the grounds and served for 20 years as office manager, faithfully handling the accounting work and helping care for a place that meant so much to so many.
Peggy was a member of Crossmark Church in North Richland Hills. In quieter moments, she enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and working puzzles, creating beautiful things one careful stitch or piece at a time.
Peggy did not want the people she loved to be sad when she was gone. She wanted them to be happy and to remember her with laughter instead of tears. In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated, and her family will gather to celebrate the full life she lived, the strength she showed, the laughter she brought, and the love she leaves behind. A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held on October 30 at 10:00am at Crossmark Church, located at 5408 Davis Blvd, North Richland Hills, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather, share their favorite memories, and celebrate Peggy in the joyful way she wanted to be remembered.
