Opal May Ellingston

Opal was preceded in death by her parents Siguard and Ellen May, her brother Siguard, Jr., her sister Illa, daughter Kari Sue, her first husband Gerald Bogan and her second husband Leo Ellingston. Opal was born in 1933 in Roland, Iowa and lived most of her life in Iowa. In her later years she moved to Tennessee and most recently lived in Texas.

She is survived by her three children, Curtis ("Louie") Bogan, Bryan (Kathy) Bogan, Marna Bogan; her sister Bertha (Gary) Morgan; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Opal graduated from Ames High School. She received her diploma in nursing from Broadlawns Nursing School. As and RN, she provided patient care and later was a Nursing Home Administrator until she retired.

After she retired, Opal found a love for quilting and was actively involved with various quilting groups in Iowa, Tennessee and Texas. Her quilts will be cherished by her loved ones. She will be missed by her family, friends and many others.

A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date in Belmond, Iowa. In lieu of flowers/gifts, the family is requesting donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
