Nancy was born on September 11, 1950 in Fort Worth, Texas to Lena Louise and James Cardwell Jr. Nancy’s talents were many, she was a great cook, enjoyed cross stitching, reading and conversing.
Nancy, whom her family affectionately called “Shotgun” due her ability to speak freely, shoot from the hip and never holding anything back, will be remembered for her lengthy conversations and her dedication to her family. Married to Wayne Lewis for just over 47 years, the two will remain a true testament to God’s grace and love in marriage. Together they raised 3 Children and had 7 grandchildren.
Nancy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers beds she appreciated. She loved Jesus and wanted those that crossed her path to have a relationship with Christ. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. Nancy never met a stranger, not even while taking a family vacation to Florida in 23-degree weather. With a wire cased camcorder in hand she posed as a field reporter, interviewing Disney World guests and making friends along the way. Her character drew people in, with her infectious smile and boisterous cackle that could be heard amidst a noisy crowd.
Whether you met Nancy while she was working in the family pool business with her husband Wayne or grocery shopping, when you met, you were forever connected with this amazing woman. She loved automatically and unconditionally and wanted nothing but the best for each soul she knew; no doubt you were prayed for by Nancy.
Nancy had an uncanny ability to know when you were at your busiest and would call just to say how much you were loved and chat. Social ques did not apply to Nancy. If you needed to make the call short, too bad- Nancy was never at a loss for words despite Wayne in the background urging her to end the call. One could call this her “Love Language”.
She will be missed dearly by her family, friends, Outback Steakhouse, QVC and without question, Joe T Garcia’s. Nancy’s children remember best, one of her favorite sayings while tucking them in after a bedtime prayer… “Mommy and Daddy love you, Jesus loves you, get a college degree and don’t get married until you’re 30!” (Well, us children are 0 for 3 on College degrees, but we all sure love Jesus) So, this time, as you move past this life into eternal life, we say to you… Goodnight Nancy, we love you.
Nancy is survived by her husband Wayne Lewis and her proudest accomplishments their daughter Sunny Kercho and son in-law Steve Kercho, daughter Ashley Evertson and son in-law Jason Evertson and son Chance Lewis; seven grandchildren: Andie, Dru, Catherine, Campbell, Olivia, Rebecca and Elijah. She is also survived by her Brother James Cardwell III & Cindy; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial/life celebration of Nancy Lewis will be held at 11:00 AM on December 1, 2018 at Marty Leonard Community Chapel located at 3131 Sanguinet Street Fort Worth, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made in honor of Nancy Cardwell Lewis to Launch Global, specifically to support family friends Josh and Maria Rolf. Through the ministry of Launch Global, these funds would directly support the Rolf family in sharing the gospel of Christ. This network helps local churches recruit, train, and send long-term missionaries to areas of the world that have no access to the message of Jesus. There are still 2.2 billion people in the world considered to be unreached – meaning the good news of Jesus is not readily available to them. Launch Global is working to fulfill Revelation 7:9-10 by helping the local church to send strategically - to the populations of people who are not yet represented in the heavens!
