Myron (Mike) Macy passed January 19, 2019 at age 99 years. Myron was born in rural Emporia, KS to Calvin Lewis and Nellie Bly (Ratcliff) Macy . He was Preceded in death by his parents, brother Loren, sister Aleita (Macy) Forbeck, wife Nelta. He is survived by 4 generations of nieces and nephews, and many friends. Myron grew up on a farm near Emporia, he raised hundreds of rabbits, as well as all the chores and work of a farm boy. Around age 10 he worked a team of horses along with many others in digging a basement under the Cottonwood Friends Church where he attended with his family. After high school he attended college in Emporia for a few months, then went to aircraft school in Wichita. Jobs were scarce, but teacher said aircraft plants in California were hiring. In 1939 went to San Diego and worked for Conair Aircraft building B24 Bombers. He was good at reading blueprints and soon promoted to inspector. Met his wife Nelta. She was one of the "Rosie The Riveters" Nelta, (being her ornery self) would not move for this handsome young inspector (if you had the privilege of knowing Nelta Kite-you will smile). Three months later they had their first date and married in January 1943. When war ended he sold stainless steel pots and pans. Later went to work for Sears Roebuck & Co in Long Beach, CA in 1948, retiring after 35 years, moved to Big Bear, CA in 1983. Joined the Masons in 1955, served as Master in 1964 and proud he recently received his 60 year pin. After moving to Big Bear Mike did lots of fishing, even becoming very active in a local fishing club. Also they refinished furniture. Throughout his life fishing was his passion. Fished in many lakes, ponds, ocean, etc. One of his biggest thrills was catching Albacore in the ocean. In 1998 Myron and Nelta moved to Weatherford Texas where they volunteered for Manna Store House – doing many things including repairing many items. After 69 years of marriage Nelta passed in 2012. In 2016 Myron moved to Brookdale Assisted Living. Myron (Mike) Macy was loved by many. Ashes to be scattered near Nelta's in a place dear to his heart. Suggested memorial contributions to First United Methodist Church in Weatherford, TX. or Cottonwood Friends Church of rural Emporia, KS
