She passed away on January 16, 2024 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 82.
Mollie was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was raised in a small town in Mississippi. She was known for her sweet smile and kind heart. She got her start in banking at the young age of 14 and continued that career for over 50 years. She lived a small-town lifestyle until she married Air Force officer, Dennis Wagar. During their 33 years of marriage, they had three children and moved all over the United States, sparking her love for travel and adventure. After her career, she devoted much of her time to volunteer work for Bass Hall, where she logged over 250 volunteer hours and received recognition for her service. Mollie enjoyed reading self-help books and romance novels. In addition to her book collection, Mollie also collected many recipes. Her social media was filled with daily entries of delicious dessert ideas. She was a fantastic hostess, who loved to feed her family and friends and was always prepared to cook for an army! Her family especially remembers her Creole recipes, like gumbo, her tasty sweets, like sopapilla cheesecake, and the way she devoured BBQ ribs! Mollie greatly loved being a Mimi to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and delighted in watching them grow. When she became a great grandmother, she kept the Kid-2-Kid store in business, always delivering care packages of adorable clothes for her great grandchildren, which her grandchildren greatly appreciated. Life wasn’t always perfect for Mollie; she had to overcome many struggles, but she faced those struggles with courage, perseverance, and faith in Jesus. Mollie left this earth a blessed and beloved woman with a wonderful testimony to God’s faithfulness and grace.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Shirley, Donald, and Marvin Barksdale.
She is survived by her former husband and friend, Dennis Wagar, daughter Aimee Wagar Arnold and husband, Steven, daughter Lori Wagar and husband, Curtis White, and son Randy Wagar, and wife Stephanie; grandchildren John Burris, Joshua Leblo and wife, Caitlan, Richard Burris and wife, Ashley, Jacob Leblo and wife, Mallory, Emory Arnold Beynon and husband, Cort, and Bailey Arnold; great grandchildren Aria, Jonah, Rylee, Cora, Addison, and Elijah.
