Melissa was born on April 11, 1972 in Durham, NC to Joyce Pendergraph Langley and Barry Dickson Langley. She lived in Durham and attended St. Mary’s School and Durham Academy until she moved with her family to Grapevine, TX when she was seventeen. She graduated from Grapevine High School. Melissa trained as a medical assistant and phlebotomist and worked at local nursing homes in Ft. Worth. Once her children, Brittany and Joshua, were born, she decided to be a stay at home mom and homemaker. Although often ill at home or hospital bound, she truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: chatting and spending time with family and friends, visiting flea markets, shopping on line and playing with her dogs.
Melissa is survived by her husband David Allen Hochstine, lovingly remembered by her children, Joshua David and Brittany Rae. Also surviving are her mother, Joyce Pendergraph Funderburke and stepfather, Charles Robert Funderburke, sister, Meghan Rae Funderburke Pirkle, brother-in-law, Richard Patrick Pirkle, niece, Ryah Parker, all of McKinney, TX, and aunt and uncle, James and Sandra Pendergraph and cousins, Miranda Kaluka and Jessica Walker, of Hillsborough, NC. Additionally, she is survived by her father, Barry Dickson Langley, stepmother, Tracey Langley, brother, Christian Langley of Virginia, aunt and uncle, Sandy and John Overcash, cousins, Greg and Clay Overcash, and uncles, David and Mark Jackson of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Helen Riley Pendergraph and Foy Roberson Pendergraph; paternal grandparents, Margaret Dickson Langley Jackson and Fletcher Odell Jackson. Her mother-in-law, Mary Louise Leon, preceded Melissa’s own passing.
Now Melissa is at peace with her heavenly Father and finally at rest. Let us hold her close in our minds and hearts, remembering her love of home and family. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
