Marge was born in Hamilton, Ohio in 1943, the third daughter of Roscoe and Nettie Miller. She met Richard "Dick' Carpenter, and they married on November 11, 1963. After several moves along the East Coast, Marge and Dick moved their family to Grapevine, TX in December 1980. She has been dancin' in Texas ever since!
Marge had an infectious personality, and she loved - even needed to be surrounded by people. She never met a stranger and always saw the good no matter the circumstance. She was known for "being there" and helping her many friends and family over the years. One of her many gifts was that when she met you, she never forgot your name or the details of your life.
A true entrepreneur, Marge started typing resumes at the kitchen table, which soon started her journey into business. She quickly became the sole proprietor of Grapevine Executive Suites, and later, along with her business partner and husband, built their own building and expanded with the Trophy Club Executive Suites. Along the way she became very involved in many community organizations, such as the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce. In 2007 they sold the building and retired...but only as Marge retires! She continued working part time, volunteering as often as possible, and spending as much time as possible with friends and family. She loved nothing more than having her boys and their families under one roof, as well as throwing together an impromptu party at home.
She was an avid member of both the Grapevine and Southlake's Garden Clubs, volunteered frequently at the Gate House, and worked in the nursery most Sundays at Lonesome Dove Church. She also loved her Zumba classes, working in her flower gardens, and traveling to visit family and friends. Most recently she took a 21-day cross country road trip with her sister, Regina, visiting a dozen or more friends and family. Staying connected was her biggest gift. If you were within a hundred miles of where she was, you were going to get a visit!
Marge is preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Nettie Miller; her sister and brother-in-law, Paige and Dare Darnell; her sister Toots’ husband, Walt Courtney; and her sister Regina’s husband, Bob Morgan. She is survived by her husband, Richard Carpenter, her sons Keith (Carrie), Derek, Adam (M’liss), granddaughters: Kelsey, Hope, Casey, and Bailey and a grandson, Kyle. Also, many cousins and family friends.
