Colonel Loren Keeffe passed away at his home in Bedford, Texas on July 16, 2019 at the age of 95.
Loren was born to William and Alice (Conway) Keeffe in Washington, DC on April 29, 1924.
He graduated from Fairfax High School June 10, 1941. He joined the Army-Air Corps at the age of 18 and was assigned to the 12th Bombardment Group during WWII. He was stationed in the China-Burma-India (CBI) Theater of the Pacific where he flew 52 missions as a gunner and photographer in a B-25. He was discharged on October 1, 1945. Upon his return to the United States, he went to work for the Veterans Administration where he met his future wife, Jane Howard. They were married on June 1, 1946 in the Mt. Vernon Place Methodist Church in Washington, DC and were happily married for 21 years until her passing from cancer on November 2, 1967.
Loren graduated from American University in May 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree and was commissioned an officer in the Air Force in 1951 during the Korean war.
Loren married Barbara Drysdale on January 1, 1969. He retired from the Air Force in 1978 as a Colonel and developed a successful real estate business with his wife, who passed away on December 24, 2008.
Loren had 3 children, 2 adopted children, 4 stepchildren and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas on August 15, 2019 at 10:45 AM.
