Larry was born on January 8, 1932 in Montour Falls, NY. He served in the U.S Army during the Korean War where he started his career as a truck driver. Although Larry always considered upstate NY to be ‘home’, he relocated to Kansas and then Denton, Tx in the early 1980’s. Larry and Gloria were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Although Larry left school at a young age, he was very mechanically minded. He could fix most things and eventually had his own small engine repair business. He was always willing to help those in need whether that was a ride to work, some manual effort moving, hauling, or fixing, or limited financial assistance. In his later years, Larry was an avid dominoes player (and a pretty good one too).
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Dawn Saxton, and his siblings: Harris Terwilliger, Joyce Coughlin, and William Terwilliger. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Baker, and his children: Cheryl Stone, Sally Derrick, Richard Saxton, and Susan Weaver, as well as many beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Larry's ashes will be interred at Woodland National Cemetery in Elmira, NY at a future date. The family asks that remembrances be made as donations to the American Cancer Society.
