

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kerry Lynn Williams, 84, a man of boundless energy and intelligence who passed away at his home in Irving, Texas on June 9, 2026.
Kerry was born August 1, 1941, in Groesbeck, Texas to Leonard Woodrow Williams and Edna Earl Cook. He was their second child and first-born son.
At age 15, Kerry and his family moved to Dallas where he graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1959. After graduating, he went on a blind date and met the love of his life Brenda Sue Medcalf. They married in 1962.
Kerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy in May of 1966. He proudly served during Vietnam on the USS Vega and USS Rehoboth. He was honorably discharged in April of 1968.
After returning home, he started college and worked in the Banking/Savings & Loan Industry. In 1972, he and Brenda moved to DeSoto, Texas and started a family. He graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1980 with a Bachelor of Business.
In 1997, after more than 20 years in DeSoto, he and Brenda moved to Irving, Texas. In 1998, they joined the First Baptist Church of Irving. After numerous years in banking, he decided to make a career change and finished his career with the FDIC where he retired in 2005.
Kerry was a sharpshooter who loved shooting skeet and trap. He was actively involved with the Grand Prairie Gun Club, Arlington Sportsman’s Club, and the Fort Worth and DeSoto Gun Clubs. He made many lifelong friends with his shooting buddies winning many buckles and trophies during leagues and special events.
Kerry looked forward to his weekly breakfasts at Joe’s Coffee Shop with friends and his men’s group from church. He also enjoyed being involved with the veterans and VA groups.
He was an avid reader, a Mr. Fix-It All, outgoing, smart, organized, brave, strong, and a kind and helpful gentleman. He was a devoted family man, loving husband, and father. He had an incredible work ethic. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, his dogs Emmett and Lucy, his cats Big Boy, Sophie and Sammy.
He was preceded in death by his mother Edna Earl Cook Williams, father Leonard Woodrow Williams, brothers Larry Williams and Barry Williams, and sister Yvonne Yielding.
He is survived by his wife Brenda of almost 64 years, daughter Joy Williams Reed and son-in-law Shane Reed of Irving, Texas, along with nieces, nephews, and other extended family and dear friends.
