Kenneth Morris Little was born on March 18, 1939, to Oscar and Mary Loucille Little in Coolidge, Texas. He passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, at the age of 85. He graduated in a class of twelve from Coolidge High and attended Navaro College.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1961 and was trained in telecommunications. While in the military he met and married Omega Daniels and had his first child Patrick in Nebraska. After his discharge in 1967 he began a lengthy career with General Telephone. His second child Shawn was born in California before the family moved to Texas for work.
In 1975 he tragically lost his first wife. In 1976 Ken met and married Michele Harrell and gained a new son, Glen. With the family living in Irving, Ken spent many nights working as a Police Reservist or days volunteering with the Boy Scouts. In 1978, the family moved to Texarkana. There the family became members of St. James Episcopal Church, where Ken would usher and serve on the vestry. In addition, Ken found the time to once again serve by joining the Army Reserves on weekends. The family eventually moved back to the DFW area so Ken could supervise a new switching center for GTE.
He retired from GTE in 1988 and worked in sales for BCTel of Canada. Along the way he picked up the nickname “The High-Tech Redneck” because of his telecommunications expertise, cowboy hat, boots, and his big Chevy Dully truck. Ken eventually retired due to illness.
Ken was active with his kids, taking the family on many vacations. Being an amateur historian, there wasn’t a civil war battlefield he didn’t want to visit, and he could never resist a good museum. He enjoyed sharing his love of history with his family.
After moving back from Texarkana, Ken and Michele lived in the Grapevine area, eventually joining St Laurence Church making many lasting friends there. He enjoyed helping the Grapevine Rotary place flags on Main Street for holidays and volunteered with the Grapevine Police and Fire departments. When not busy with volunteering he found time to take Michele on trips to Canada, Alaska, Europe, and Israel.
Ken was very proud of his children and grandchildren, always attending football and soccer games. He was able to watch all his kids and grandkids graduate high school and many from college, always beaming with pride.
Ken is preceded in death by his first wife, Omega, and his parents Oscar and Mary Loucille.
Ken is survived by his wife of 48 years, Michele Little; sons Patrick Little (Margaret), Glen Harrell (Kristy), daughter Shawn Lawler (Paul). His grandchildren, Taylor, Josh, Courtney, Garrett, Chris, Ashleigh, Shelby, Kesley, and Keelie. Great grandchildren Lucas, Gavin, Chris, Travis, Jayson, Addi, and Levi.
A funeral service for Ken will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:30 am in St. Laurence Anglican Church, 519 Kimball Ave., Southlake, TX 76092. There will be a reception in the parish hall following the service.
