Julie Ann Holden Reeve, 73, passed away in a Fort Worth hospital on Saturday, October 3. 2026. She was born March 14, 1953 in Abilene, Texas to Jack and Bettie Brown Holden. She graduated from Cooper High School in 1971 and from McMurry College in 1974.
Julie met David (Dave) L. Reeve while attending McMurry College, and the two married on June 15, 1974 Together they shared 52 years. Throughout their marriage they lived in Houston, Corpus Christi, and Jacksonville Florida, before making their home in Weatherford, TX, where they have lived for the past 46 years.
Julie had a special talent for bringing beauty to the world around her, from tending plants and flowers to creating lovely floral arrangements. She had a business making and selling beautiful Appalachian baskets that were woven with yarn. She also had a plant-care business, caring for plants at various businesses in Weatherford, which was a natural extension for her love for plants and being outdoors. She also spent a few years working in her husband’s medical office where she handled insurance and billing.
She had a great love for dogs. Over the years, they had numerous Shelties, as well as others that she so dearly loved. She and Dave loved competing in dog agility events, earning many ribbons through the years. Her love for dogs was a special part of her life.
Together they traveled to many places through the years, but one of Julie’s favorite destinations was Kauai, Hawaii. They made many trips there and happily shared their time-share with family and friends. Another place especially dear to her was their lake house at Lake Cypress Springs, which they enjoyed for 40 years. It was the setting for countless special memories—from her patient skiing lessons for some “less talented” skiers to Fourth of July celebrations and summer birthdays at the lake.
Julie was a kind, generous, and compassionate friend. She loved giving gifts and sending cards and had a remarkable way of remembering the little things about the people she loved. She enjoyed sharing stories and memories of her family with special friends. Julie loved spending time with her nieces and creating special memories with them, whether she was teaching them to water ski, jumping on a pogo stick, pushing them around in a wheelbarrow, making pine cone treats at the lake, or just hanging out together. She was known to one of her youngest great-nephews as “Jujie”. Dave’s brother used to call her “Little Jewel”. And she was that. She enjoyed making people feel good and making their world a more beautiful place.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Bettie Brown Holden.
Julie is survived by her husband, David Reeve; two sisters - Kathy Holden Sayles, and Cindy Holden Davenport (Steve); three sisters-in-law - Sharon Reeve White, Carol Reeve Perry (Bob), and Betty Reeve Flory (Gary); eight nieces - Kristi Sayles McLemore (Mike), Katie Davenport Appleton (Scott), Jenny Davenport Johnson (Aaron), Debbie Reeve Lascelles (Chris), Denae Reeve McLellan (Johnny), Becky Reeve, Elaine White Harmon (Brent), Audrey Perry Ryan (David); two nephews - Bill White (Jerri Lynn) and Luke Perry, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; many other family members, special friends, and three very loved fur friends, Skyler, Maisey, and Kiki.
