Jonathan Huckvale, 57, passed away on September 18th, 2023. He was born on March 23, 1966, to James Earl Huckvale, and Sandra Joan Cable (Gedutis) in Brockton, MA. He lived a life filled with music, laughter, and cherished memories.
Jon was a beloved father to Samara Huckvale and Isabel Huckvale; brother to James (Jimmy) Huckvale, Kimberly Jean Huckvale, Matthew David Huckvale, Gregory Huckvale, and Jared Huckvale; and a dear friend to many. He will be remembered for his humor, his kindness and his love. His love for music, comedy, movies, gardening, the Red Sox, the New England Patriots, his birds and, above all else, his beautiful daughters.
Jon served in the Army from 1986 – 1990, graduated from the UT Austin in 1994 with a Bachelor’s in Information Management Systems. He spent the majority of his career in IT, starting at Sprint as a computer programmer, moving to Transamerica for 7 years, and then 16 years as a systems analyst with Walmart in Bentonville, AR.
Jon gained local renown as a mainframe computer programming expert, known to often work tirelessly into the early morning hours. He was widely regarded as a man driven by a dedication to duty and would work as long as it took to get the job done. He never complained; he took on every challenge with an upbeat attitude— confident he could figure out the right path to resolution. Jon was regarded as a master of mainframe technologies at Transamerica and Walmart and his reputation as such remains to this day. In his spare time, Jon mastered the guitar and played for a local rock band in Arkansas. He had a real love for rock music.
Jon spent the latter part of his life, endeavoring as an entrepreneur, starting two businesses over the past five years with the same enthusiastic gusto he brought to bear in his computer career. He left homes forever changed by his painting skills and dedication to perfectionism and customer satisfaction.
While Jon was a highly intelligent, fun-loving, upbeat man, he was also a character; a unique individual the likes of which we may never see again. This is what made him so endearing to all who knew him.
Jon will be deeply missed by his entire family and many close friends. He will forever remain in their hearts as the fun-loving person he was. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, resilience, and a “can-do” attitude that will continue to guide and comfort those who knew and loved him.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Jon's life will be held on September 28, 2023 at 3:15PM at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend and share their memories of Jonathan Huckvale .
