A letter from Joan:
I'm Joan White Crittenden and that is my birth name. The White is my mother's maiden name. Everybody in Alabama calls me Joan White. I was raised in Alabama and went to a Baptist girls school, Judson College and the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. I quilt and have won a few ribbons in the Dallas Quilt Show and Trinity Valley Quilt Show here in Fort Worth. I, like most of us do genealogy to a fault. I spent 41 years at General Dynamics, Computer Science Corp and Lockheed Martin in the same chair, doing the same type of job, just getting sold to different companies.
Before I came to Fort Worth, I lived in Thermopolis, Wyoming which was a really big change for the little gal raised in Ashridge, Alabama who didn't know the difference between 0 and 32, but she found out the first morning when her little VW was frozen up. I finally had all I could take of the cold weather in Wyoming and left for greener pastures.
I have been married twice and have a daughter by my second husband. The first marriage didn't last long. My mother said it took me longer to sew the pearls on the dress than the marriage lasted and my sister said everybody has a baby in 9 months, but Joan gets a divorce.
My Cuz Jackie and partner in genealogy was the reason I joined DAR. He wanted me to join DAR so our genealogy would be in the DAR records. I told him I would do the research, but he had to fill out the forms..and he did. He made those records look like a book and I didn't get a request for any more info. I belong to several lineage groups, but the friends I have made in Mary Isham Keith are some of the best in the world.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.neptunesociety.com/location/fort-worth-cremation for the Crittenden family.
