On July 21, 2026 Janice Settles White was welcomed into the open arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jan was born October 8, 1948 at Station Hospital, Ft. Worth Air Field, Ft Worth, Tx to Lt. Col. George Truett Settles and Mary Rilla Jowers Settles. She grew up in Dallas as the middle child between her big sister Gwen and her little brother George, Jr. Jan attended Adamson High School, where she graduated in 1966.
Jan married her high school sweet heart, Ronald Lee Carson, Sr, with whom her family was started. They gave birth to a son, Ronald Lee Carson, Jr. Jan later married Kenny L. White, of Dallas, Texas.
As a young adult, Jan worked in the pension benefits department at Southwestern Life in Dallas. Following SWL, she worked at two pension benefits consulting firms. She finished her career as Corporate Secretary and Benefits Administrator for Operational System Designs, Inc. Jan retired at age 50.
Jan had few hobbies, but those she had she had great passion for. Jan was an athlete. She enjoyed sports. She was an avid runner. She played first base in softball; she was not afraid of hard-hit ground balls or softballs being thrown right at her. She also enjoyed biking and swimming. While not a sport, she also enjoyed crafts.
Jan’s primary interest was attending and serving at church, where she made many friends. She was active on committees and some teaching. She attended Cliff Temple Baptist Church from childhood to Northway Baptist Church (later Northway Church) through her adult years. She had many charitable interests; North Dallas Shared Ministries, Meals on Wheels, Union Gospel Mission and Texas Baptist Men. Until she was physically unable to continue, Jan was a very active volunteer with North Dallas Shared Ministries and Meals on Wheels.
Cancer, that insidious disease, took her after a significant time of fighting through the first diagnosis and a more significant reoccurrence. Jan was a fighter and she never complained. It was never why me; it was always God’s grace is sufficient.
Jan is survived by Kenny L. White, her loving husband of 43 years, her son Ronald Lee Carson, Jr. with Sybil Cosson, her step-sons Gregory Alan White with wife Susan and Mark Christopher White with wife Heather, her sister Gwendolyn Settles Agin, her brother George Truett Settles, Jr., grandchildren Tyler, Todd, Westyn, Kayla, Maddie and Brittany, and nieces Traci and Kelly.
Our family is deeply thankful for the many prayers, and all of the love and kindnesses shown to Jan and her family.
Arrangements for a memorial service have not yet been made.
