Janet Marie Basham

Born in Fort Worth, she was a graduate of Nolan High School and the University of Texas - Arlington. She taught briefly in Dallas ISD, worked for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, and then 25 years as an Administrative Assistant at First Command (formerly USPA & IRA). She was a long term volunteer reading teacher at Fort Worth ISD. She was a grateful member of First United Methodist Church Fort Worth. Janet was an officer of The Ladies Circle, SPJST Lodge #92 at National Hall.

She was loved by many as a wonderful, kind and special person.

Janet loved her home, pets and walks.

She is survived by Curtis Basham, beloved husband of 40 years. Sister Martha Smith of St. Petersburg, FL, special niece Jennifer Stierli and family of Redding, CA. Nephew Allen Henry and wife Heather of College Station, TX, niece Allison Henry of College Station, TX and many other nieces and nephews. Also Maisie, the long-haired dachshund.

Her memory will live in all.

Memorial Service: Friday, August 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church, 800 Fifth St. Fort Worth Texas.
