

He was born August 5, 1942 in Iaeger, WV. The family moved to Shelton in1954. He attended Shelton High School where he played football and basketball and graduated in 1961. He then served 4 years in the Marine Corps where he taught marksmanship. Shortly after his honorable discharge he met and married the love of his life Judy Trail (McFarland) in 1966. Their first daughter Tammy was born on his 25th birthday, and their second daughter, Nancy,15 months later. They moved back to Shelton in 1973 to raise their family.
Tom coached many youth football, baseball and softball teams through the years. He also owned and operated the Shelton Gymnastics Club for many years. He was blessed with a granddaughter, Emma in 1992 and she has remained the apple of her Papa's eye. Tom was a Millright at Simpson Timber Company for 35 years. He retired in 2004, and he and Judy moved to Benson, AZ where they lived until 2022. They then moved to Texas to reside with their daughter Nancy until he was called home to be with Jesus. No memorial would be complete without mention of his love for the University of Alabama football, Roll Tide.
Tom is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy; his daughter Nancy, husband Doug; granddaughter Emma and husband Jon; brother Roger; sister Judy and husband Dale; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Emma; father Basil; daughter Tammy; sister Arlene; brother Robert; and sister Janice. At his request no memorial will be held.
