Jim Pierce, 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away after a brief battle with cancer on March 29, 2025. The family is comforted that Jim died peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children.
Jim was born on September 12, 1947 in Aberdeen, Maryland to Frank and Ruth Pierce. He was the oldest of their three children, with a younger brother, Bobby and younger sister, Jill.
At the age of four, Jim moved with his family to Hightstown, New Jersey where he grew up in a loving home. As a child, he enjoyed playing baseball, collecting baseball cards and stamps, and was an avid fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Mets. He graduated from Hightstown High in 1965.
Following high school, Jim went to Catawba College in North Carolina, where he earned a degree in accounting. Early in his career, he met the love of his life, Vickie. Jim and Vickie were married in 1973 in Walkertown, North Carolina. They welcomed their daughter Julie, and later moved to San Jose, California where they welcomed their son, Matt. They soon moved to Denver, Colorado where they lived for nearly forty years.
After retirement from a successful career in the yellow pages business, Jim and Vickie bought a second home in Tucson, Arizona where Jim fulfilled a life-long dream of playing golf year-round. In 2022, Jim and Vickie relocated to Denton, Texas.
Those that know Jim know he had a passion for golf. Jim loved playing competitively in tournaments, including participating in the Senior Open Amateur Championship in Nairn, Scotland. Jim also loved playing rounds with his friends, practicing his game, watching golf tournaments, and reading about golf. He especially cherished playing golf with his son and giving his grandchildren rides on his golf cart. Jim also loved sports, including his Duke Blue Devils, Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets and Colorado Rockies.
Above all, Jim was devoted to his family. Jim had tremendous love for his wife of 52 years, children and grandchildren. Jim’s quick wit and sense of humor brought laughter and joy to all those he met. Jim will be deeply missed.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruth. Jim is survived by his wife Vickie Pierce (Denton, TX); his daughter Julie Patterson and her husband Jay (Jackson, MO); his son Matt and his wife Romina (Coppell, TX); and his six grandchildren: Ben and Paige Patterson and Luca, Nico, Sofia, and Gian Pierce. Jim is also survived by his brother, Bobby Pierce, sister Jill Tyler, and life-long friends, Glenn and Cindy Dick.
A celebration of life will be held at the Robson Ranch Clubhouse in Denton on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 4:00 pm.
