He was born on March 12, 1932. in Topeka, Kansas, where he grew up, attending Topeka High School. He graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, with a Business Bachelor of Arts degree in 1952. He worked as a sales person for Hallmark in Topeka, Waco, Texas, and Dallas, Texas, for UARCO and Tensor Lamps. Then he worked for HON Office Furniture as regional sales manager until he retired. He was actively involved in John Calvin United Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He retired and designed and built his own house in Big Sky, Montana. He and his wife, Jean remained active in Big Sky and Dallas thereafter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Eberly McCord and Stewart Raymond McCord, and his half-sister, Jean Bailey Hough.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jean Vigneron McCord, his two sons, Michael Lee McCord and wife Rita, and Kirby Dean McCord and wife Donna, his four grandchildren, Sean Ryan McCord and wife Erin, Trey Michael McCord and wife Jourdan, Briana Kathleen White and husband Pete, and Connor Stewart McCord, and his four great grandchildren, Annaliese Josselet McCord, Eleanor Rae McCord, Beckham Leigh McCord, and Coen Michael McCord.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Saint Stephen Presbyterian Church at 2700 McPherson Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76109 on Thursday, August 17th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service.
