Hal Dalton Black

God saw the road was getting rough, the hill was hard to climb, he gently closed those loving eyes and whispered, “peace be thine”.

Hal Dalton Black, 87, of Fort Worth passed away on July 19, 2026, at Tuskegee Airmen VA Center after a long illness. A longtime resident of the Fort Worth/Benbrook area, Hal served in the United States Air Force retiring at the rank of MSGT in 1982 after 23 years of service. He later worked for the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Fort Worth.

Hal was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 297 Benbrook and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10429 Benbrook. His faith was the driving force behind his military service and his dedication to serving others was evident in his many activities with the American Legion and VFW, honoring and supporting those who served, and are serving, in the Armed Forces - his comrades-in-arms.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Stephens, sons Lynn (Meredith - Austin), and Glynn Black (Susie - Houston), many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and twin great-great granddaughters.

Hal’s quick wit, humor, and zest for life made him a friend to all who knew him and he will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life with military honors will be held September 19, 2026, at American Legion Post 297, 8201 Old Benbrook Road, Benbrook, Texas 76126 at 3:00pm.
