Glenmary “Deedie” Baker Russell Favro, recently of Denton, TX and formerly of Houston, TX and Boston, MA passed into eternity on August 23, 2019, at the age of 96. Deedie was born June 18, 1923 in Young County, TX. She grew up in West Texas oilfields and the towns of Breckenridge and Graham, graduating from Graham High School in 1941. She lived most of her adult life in Houston, raising three children with her husband, Herbert Russell who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Doug Baker, Mable Baker Favro, Rex Baker, her niece Marty Baker Cash and her second husband, Clyde W. “Joe” Favro.
She was a well-known and much-loved member of her churches. Over the years in Houston she attended the Oak Meadows Church of Christ, Broadway Church of Christ, Southeast Church of Christ, Northwest Church of Christ and the Greater Houston Church, Gulf Coast Region. During her years in Massachusetts, she attended the Lexington Church of Christ which later became the Boston Church of Christ. In Denton, she attended Singing Oaks Church of Christ and the DFW Church, Northwest Region.
Deedie was known for her faith in God, her zest for life, her storytelling and her hospitality. She was an avid story teller of her own living history, starting with being a Rosie the Riveter during World War II. She wrote many of these stories down while studying for her Bachelor’s degree, graduating at age 65! Deedie was a world traveler. She has been to North American, South American and European countries. She walked on The Great Wall of China at age 84.
Deedie is survived by her by her sister-in-law, Marilyn Baker and by her children, Susan Russell Wheeler and Susan’s husband, Michael Wheeler, Madeline Russell, John William “Bill” Russell and his wife, Donna Russell and her step children/niece and nephew, Dianne Favro, Terry Favro and his wife Carole Ann.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Stinson, Amanda Hawkins, Rob Mooring, Jessica Wheeler, her grandchildren by marriage, Mellissa Bruce, Nicole Wheeler, Terra Favro, Travis Favro and her great grandchildren, Kaleb Stinson, Delany Stinson, Madie Hawkins, Riley Hawkins, Tommy Hawkins, Molly Mooring, Owen Mooring and her great grandchild by marriage, Taylor Favro.
Other surviving nephews and nieces are Joe D. Baker, Jill Baker Guettler, Bill Baker and their children.

The Denton memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 2 pm at Singing Oaks Church of Christ, 101 Cardinal at McKinney.
The Houston memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 2 pm at Oak Meadows Community Worship Center, 6105 Allendale, Houston, TX.
