Georgia Lund was born on July 9, 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Lillian and George Dick, and peacefully entered Heaven on June 6, 2026, in Dallas, Texas.
During her childhood, Georgia lived in several cities across the United States, including Portland, Palo Alto, Mt. Vernon, and Chicago. At age 10, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior, a decision that shaped the rest of her life. She was later confirmed at St. Chrysostom’s Episcopal Church in Chicago.
Georgia graduated with honors from Northwestern University in 1957, earning a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in English. While there, she met her future husband, Lyle Benton “Ben” Lund. They married on June 21, 1958, and began their life together in Princeton, Illinois, where Georgia taught second grade before dedicating herself to raising their children, David and Tammy.
A gifted teacher and devoted mother, Georgia’s greatest passion was sharing her faith and nurturing those she loved. Following her divorce in 1982, she leaned deeply on her faith and often spoke of God's faithfulness and the power of forgiveness.
Throughout her life, Georgia continued to serve others through her work with children, education, and healthcare. She lived in Illinois, Indiana, and finally Dallas, where she spent nearly three decades. Even after retirement, she enjoyed helping graduate nursing students edit their papers and achieve their educational goals.
Georgia treasured her lifelong friendships, especially those formed in high school, and cherished a memorable trip to Israel with her sister Shirley. Above all, she delighted in being a grandmother. Her six grandchildren were her greatest joy and pride.
Georgia will be remembered for her unwavering faith, kind heart, love of learning and cookies, and deep devotion to her family.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lillian Dick, and her beloved sister, Shirley Zimay Schultz.
She is survived by her son, David Lund and his wife, Tricia; her daughter, Tammy Land and her husband, Lane; and her six cherished grandchildren: Anna Lund, Rebecca Lund, Alex Land Henderson and her husband, Marc Henderson, Josiah Lund and his wife, Michaela Lund, Lydia Lund Poley and her husband, Kaiden Poley, and Faith Lund. Also step grandson Brandon Land, wife Maricela Land and children Aiden, Noah & Emma.
