God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you and whispered, “Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you slowly fade away.
Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, your hard-working hands put to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of George Albert “PawPaw” Moreno, who left us on March 9, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on November 29, 1949, in Karnes City, Texas, George's early years were spent helping his family on their cotton farm, instilling in him a strong work ethic and deep appreciation for family. He made history as the first member of his family to be born in a hospital and to achieve a college education. His remarkable journey is a testament to his determination and the love he had for those around him.
He lived a long and meaningful life, dedicating himself to various roles as a manager across different fields, such as sales, retail, food service, and manual labor. After recently retiring from his work as a truck driver, many fondly remember him for his significant contributions as the Head of Maintenance at Arlington Baptist College (now Arlington Baptist University) for more than 18 years.
He married his girlfriend, whom he affectionately called “Di,” on June 30, 1973, in Killeen, Texas. Together, they embarked on road trip adventures and memorable cruises, celebrating life’s journeys. His passion for God’s word fueled his study of the scriptures, deepening his faith. A true music enthusiast, he mastered multiple instruments, including the drums, guitar, and bass, sharing his beautiful baritone voice through song. His woodworking skills allowed him to craft furniture for family and friends, creating lasting memories. As the family photographer, he cherished the role of documenting reunions and capturing the essence of his children and grandchildren at each stage of their lives.
He is preceded in death by his parents Margarito Rodriquez Moreno and Francis Garcia Lerma, siblings Luz Moreno, Lillian Moreno (two weeks old), Trine Moreno, Minnie Banda, Joe Moreno, and Johnnie Moreno.
He is survived by his wife, Dianna “Bubbie” Wilkins Moreno; his daughter, Crystil Adams, along with her husband, Ron, and their two daughters, Emmalyse (Emmy) and Kyleigh; and his son, Chris Moreno, and his wife, Rachelle, along with their daughter, Harmony. He is also survived by his siblings: Julie Gonzales, Alice Salazar, Mary Nunley, Robert Moreno and his wife, Maggie, and Elizabeth (Bea) Leonard and her husband, Larry. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom he loved dearly.
The family would like to thank cardiologist Dr. S Irfan Shah and his staff, Dr. Anitha Byreddy and staff at Carewell Kidney, Arlington Memorial ER, telemetry, and ICU, Kindred Acute Care staff and the Three Oaks Hospice and Neptune Society staff for the care and compassion they showed George.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service honoring the life and legacy of George:
