Col. (USAF Retired) George “Dude” Aubry, Jr., 93, of Fort Worth, TX, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2017. Dude was born on September 17, 1924 in Toledo, OH. He graduated from Woodward High School before enlisting in the Army during World War II. Where he served as a cryptographer and paratrooper, as part of the 503rd Regimental Combat Team in the South Pacific. He was proud to have participated in the liberating jump on Corregidor Island in 1945, before being discharged in 1946.
Dude had a lifelong dream of becoming a pilot. In 1949 he made that dream a reality by enlisting in the Air Force, going through pilot training and graduating as a jet fighter pilot. His favorite, of all, was flying the F-4. He retired as a full Colonel in 1975.
The only thing Dude loved more than flying was his family and friends. He married, Patricia Strano, of Toledo, OH on December 30,1950. Together, they had four sons and two daughters. He was a devoted Catholic, enjoyed traveling, cooking and entertaining family and friends. He was known for his quick wit and cheeky grin.
