Edward Raymond Znaniecki
September 21, 1922 – March 9, 2017
Edward Raymond Znaniecki passed away in Bedford, Texas on Thursday, March 9, 2017. Born in Peru, Illinois to parents Bernard (Barney) Znaniecki and Wihelmina (Minnie) Morton Znaniecki, Ed was an only child. He married Shirley Louise Wolf on August 31, 1946 in McNabb, Illinois. She preceded him in death on September 14, 2016.
He served for four years in the United States Airforce with a tour of duty in Australia and the Philippines during World War II. He was decorated with two bronze stars and received several other commendations.
Ed started his business career selling insurance for the Prudential Company. He went on to operate and manage Monarch Electric in LaSalle, Illinois. Ed and Shirley moved to Arlington, Texas in 1973. He held a number of on-the-road sales positions over the years and travelled extensively throughout the United States. Being the road-warrior-salesman personified that he was, his wife Shirley accompanied him on many, many business trips. They must have driven a million miles going from sales call to sales call. Ed started his own business, Zee Sales, in 1980. The company flourished and prospered and he finally retired in 1992. He and Shirley continued to travel by car to enjoy the beaches of Texas and lakes of Oklahoma….or to travel to a party wherever that may be.
Ed loved to tell stories about his work career, particularly Monarch Electric. He was justifiably proud of his accomplishments there. We will miss his colorful personality, not to mention his infamous observations on the world as it is. May he rest in peace.
Ed is survived by his two daughters; Lyn Ford and partner, Paul Murray, Lori Evans and husband, Ryan, his grandson Chad O’Connor and wife, Miriam, and four great grandchildren; Alec O’Connor, Anna O’Connor, Nicole Salas and Evan O’Connor.
