It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Doctor Donna Mae Goodrich, PhD of Grand Prairie, TX, who left this world on Monday January 13th at the age of 80. Donna survived two fights with cancer, both breast and ovarian, before finally succumbing.
Donna was born on January 22nd, 1944, to Glen Michael Goodrich and Beatrice Goodrich née Lanaux in San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Major General David Michael Goodrich (USAF, ret.) and Diane Michelle Bell née Goodrich. She is survived by her 3 children, 7 grandchildren, a great grandchild, and many close friends.
After graduating from Incarnate Word High School in 1962, she married and had three children, Darryl James Johnson, Scot David Johnson, and Janine Ann Johnson. After divorcing, she returned to school and acquired Bachelor (1975) and Master (1978) of Arts degrees from Trinity University as well as a Master of Education (1989) and PhD (1992) from The University of Texas at Austin.
Donna worked for many years as a clinical and school psychologist contributing greatly to the mental health and wellness of many patients and students until retiring in 2016. She was known to sincerely believe that it is better to give than to receive. She was generous with her time and assistance. She was a beautiful soul who would help anyone.
Donna lived life to the fullest and especially loved reading, dining out, the BBC, HGTV; and spending time with friends, family, and her beloved cats, Silky and Sunny (though not necessarily in that order).
Although Donna is now gone, she will live on in the hearts and memories of all she touched and cared for. She specifically and explicitly refused any funeral, memorial, or celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, her heirs request friends and family consider donating to the fight against cancer.
Farewell mother. You race is run. Your fight is done. May you rest in peace.
