Donald Scott Harman went home to Jesus on September 29, 2023 at age 71. He died of ALS. He fought this battle with courage and prayer. He laid his life down at the feet of Jesus and trusted Jesus no matter the outcome. He knew he would either be healed on this side of heaven or in heaven. He is no longer suffering and has a new body in Heaven.
Don Harman was born to Hugh Harman and June Harman in 1952. He was the youngest of 3 boys. His older brothers are Steve Harman and Lee Harman. You can only imagine the troubles the 3 boys got into growing up together in Southern California. They loved to do “all things outdoors.” Don loved his parents and brothers.
Don Harman met his wife Sue Harman in 1976. They married in 1978. Their marriage is a testimony of Agape Love and how Christ loves the church. He would call Sue the wife of his youth and was her rock. They honored God and each other as they did life together for 45 years.
Early in their marriage they had 4 kids in 4.5 years; Nathan Harman, Amanda Harman, Rachel Harman and Kyle Harman. He was a loving father. He would attend many of his children’s events, took the kids camping, and was involved in daily life for all his children. He led by example and pointed all his children to Jesus Christ as Savor.
He watched his children grow into adults, find their careers and get married. He was a good and supportive father-in-law. Not only was he an amazing father to his children, he developed a fatherly relationship to his children’s spouses. He valued his relationships with each and they meant a lot to him. Nathan and Danielle Harman, Amanda and Michael Shannon, Rachel and Jimmy Schafer, Kyle and Sabrina Harman.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving Son, Brother, Husband, and Father, he was also an amazing Grandfather to 9 grandchildren. Logan, Liam, Lily, Lucy, Asher, Even, Autumn, Paxton and Easton. The grandchildren loved receiving Papa’s infamous “bear hugs”.
He has many other family and friends not listed in this obituary whom he was close with. To whom he loved and cared for.
The legacy his has built: Love God, Love others, Show up and help, Enjoy life. He will continue to live in our hearts and minds. He was a man of great integrity. He faced the difficult times with prayer and wisdom. He leaves a big void in all our lives, but we hold great hope in knowing we will see him again. In Christ Jesus our Savor.
