Don Lytle Self

Don Lytle Self of Euless, Texas passed away July 24th 2023 at the age of 84. Don was born in Graford, Texas to Carl Jesse Self and Thelma Powell Self Fairman on September 15th 1938. Don graduated from Tech High School in Ft Worth in 1957 from their Airframe and Power Plant program. After school he joined the USAF and served as an Engine Specialist until 1963. After his time in the service, Don began working at Bell Helicopter, where he worked as a Flight Mechanic for the next 41 years. Don enjoyed reading, hunting, boating, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. In retirement Don found pleasure working for several charitable and fraternal organizations, such as the “Car-Vettes” of the Moslah Shrine and with KOP Kares of the Knights of Pythias.

Don was preceded in death by his father Carl, mother Thelma, brother Jerry, and son Rodney.

Don is survived by his wife of 51 years Carole King Self, brother Mark Fairman, daughters Doneen Self, Sandra Yeley, and son Carl Self and wife Tanya Self. Grandchildren: Christopher Wileman, Darion Wileman, Krystal Ortega, Danielle Ortega, Rodney Ortega, Summer Frahm, Christina Patton, Thadeus Patton, Lorna Self and Dean Self as well as great grandchildren and other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
