Diana Jean Sherwin, age 80, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024 in Arlington, TX.
Jeanne was born on May 12, 1944. She was a graduate of Arlington High School and of Smith College in Northampton, MA, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English as an Ada Comstock Scholar. She served the students at the University of Texas at Arlington for many years as a Librarian and mentored numerous students in the library sciences.
She was a loving wife for 26 years to Joseph Sherwin. She is preceded in passing by her parents, John and Margie Spear, Her brother Wayne Spear, and her sister Delores Rainey.
She is survived by seven children by birth and marriage (Billy, Skip, Pat, Steven, Edward, Patricia, William), eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Jean was a member of Doxology Bible Church in Ft. Worth and of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was known as caring, supportive, and dedicated to her family, her friends, and her faith. She enjoyed gardening and singing.
A memorial service will be held at the Texas Masonic Retirement Community, 1501 W Division St, Arlington, TX on January 25 at 1:00 pm. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Texas Masonic Retirement Community for their compassionate care for Jeanne in her final days. Her warm smile and beautiful voice will be missed by friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a tribute donation to the Alzheimer's Society in her name.
