Diana Gail Maresh of Weatherford, Texas went to be with the Lord January 16th, 2018. “Dee” as her friends and family called her, was born March 29, 1945, to Geraldine and Gordon Hubbard in San Antonio, Texas, and was the oldest of three children. As a little girl, Dee lived the life of an Air Force kid, and moved around a bit, living in England for four years before settling back in Texas. Dee graduated from Arlington Heights High School, Fort Worth, TX in 1963, and studied at the University of North Texas in Denton.
In 1969, Dee had her only child, Shane. She worked many years as a cost estimator for General Dynamics in Fort Worth. Later in life, she would move to South Korea for a couple of years. After moving back to the United States, she took to the open road with her husband Charlie, traveling coast to coast, and from Key West up to Maine to enjoy some lobster, and many places in between. Through her lifetime, she would travel to several countries, including Thailand, France, Belgium and Honduras just to name a few.
Dee was known for her gregarious nature, love of the ocean, and affinity for adventure. She was a fun-loving firecracker, with an infectious laugh and a folksy, quick-witted quip sure to make all those around her laugh too. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Geraldine Marcelle Hubbard, and sister Denise Marcelle Sanders.
Dee is survived by her father, Gordon Hubbard of Breckinridge, Missouri, her husband, Charlie Ray McWhorter of Weatherford, her son Michael Shane and wife Enrica Kathleen, and two granddaughters, Christia Abigail and Emilia Kathleen Binion of Midlothian, and her brother Greg Gerard and his wife Cynthia Hubbard of Breckinridge, Missouri.
There will be a private viewing followed by a private Celebration of Life held in Port Aransas, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memoria be sent to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center: gstc.jekyllisland.com.
