It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Delerna Robertson-Spurlock, a loving mother, devoted wife, caring sister, free-spoken daughter, and cherished friend, who left this world on Monday, October 9, 2023.
Born on July 9, 2023, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Delerna Robertson-Spurlock was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Delerna's life was a testament to love, kindness, and resilience. She lived her life with unwavering faith and unending compassion, always putting the needs of others before her own.
A lifelong learner, Delerna was a passionate advocate for education. She graduated from John McDonald High School in 1989 and went on to study in Job Corps. She graduated from Tarrant County College in 2012 with her Associate of Business. Before her passing, she was pursuing her Associate of Art in Early Childhood Education. She believed in the transformative power of knowledge and instilled a deep love for learning in her children and grandchildren. She strived to open her own preschool academy. Delerna had an infectious sense of humor and a radiant smile that could light up a room. She had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
Delerna is preceded in death by her uncles Tyrone Giles, Michael Recasner, and Terry Recasner, friend Craig Jenkins, and mother-in-law Evelyn Carter-Spurlock.
She leaves behind her husband, Isaac Spurlock, son, Isam Williams III, daughter, Cydni Spurlock, mother, Dianne Robertson, father, Baptiste Giles III, brothers, John Robertson Jr. and Joseph Johnson, and sisters, Lanicha Calvin, Almettia De Dios, and Yamnique Nicholas. Along with fourteen grandchildren, fifteen godchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
