David George Peach
Our friend and brother in Christ, David George Peach, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 9, 2025. David was born in Youngstown, OH, on November 18, 1935, to George and Alene Peach. In 1954, he met Caroline Hemlepp, and the two wed in 1955, embarking on a wonderful 46 years of marriage and ministry.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his older sister Patricia Hitchcock, and his beloved first wife Caroline. He is survived by his two sisters, Polly Knapp and Susan Bogart, and adored wife, Patricia Peach.
David attended Georgetown College, Ohio State University, University of Tennessee, Middle Tennessee State University, and Southeastern Seminary. After receiving an engineering degree, he worked at the Oak Riage National Laboratory but soon felt called to the ministry, first serving as a music minister at Fairview Baptist Church. David served as a music minister and pastor in five churches across three states. He was most proud to serve First Baptist Church of Butner, North Carolina, where he was instrumental in leading the revitalization the church. David was also particularly proud of his work at the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, TN, and the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans, LA.
David was proud of his children: Sally Perez, Rachel Denton, and Greg Peach. But the apples of his eye were his grandchildren: Dustin Phillips, Devin Perez, Taylor Perez, and Cade Denton. He kept folders on all four and kept copies of all their accomplishments from elementary school to college as well as their professional accomplishments. His great-granddaughter Lucy, who bears a striking resemblance to him and is affectionately called "Lucy David," brought him great joy. The day before he passed, he met his newest great-granddaughter, Josie, for the first time. She, too, is the spitting image of him and is lovingly referred to as "Josie David."
David had a passion for cars, sports, and food, with a special love for ice cream. He famously said, "There is always room for ice cream. It just melts over supper." Fittingly, he enjoyed a big bowl of chocolate ice cream before heading to bed for the final time. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church of Hurst, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tarrant Area Food Bank in David's memory. For more information, please visit tafb.org
