David Carrillo, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on June 15, 2026, after a courageous three-year battle with illness. Born on October 13, 1960, in Ulysses, Kansas, David lived a life defined by love, strength, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to the people he cared about most.
David shared 44 wonderful years with the love of his life, Patricia Carrillo, including 40 years of marriage. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and countless cherished memories. Their relationship was a true partnership founded on friendship, loyalty, and unconditional support.
He was a proud and loving father to Larry Heron and Shawnda Hawkins, who will carry forward the values, lessons, and love he instilled in them throughout their lives. David found immense joy in being a grandfather to Darrian Stephens, Tristin Heron, Shayla Torres and her husband Vincent, Madycin Davidson and her husband Christian, Kylee Carrillo, Ashlyn Heron, and Ridgley Watson. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren who brought endless happiness, pride, and purpose to his life.
In addition to his immediate family, David leaves behind many beloved siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Family meant everything to David, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved.
For more than 30 years, David dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his career with RJM Contractors. He took great pride in his work and built lifelong friendships with coworkers who became like family. Known for his infectious smile, quick wit, and larger-than-life personality, David could light up any room. He was often the life of the party and had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went.
David’s generosity knew no bounds. He was always willing to help others, often giving whatever he could to someone in need. Whether it was his time, his knowledge, a helping hand, or even his last dollar, David never hesitated to put others before himself. His kindness and compassion touched countless lives.
One of David’s greatest passions was his love for fast cars and motorcycles, a passion he proudly shared with his son, Larry. Whether cruising down an open highway, attending car shows, or spending time in the garage, these moments brought him joy, freedom, and memories that his family will forever cherish.
Honoring David’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, family and friends are encouraged to celebrate his life in their own way—share stories, raise a glass, and remember the laughter, kindness, and love he brought into the lives of so many. Though many knew him as outgoing and fun-loving, David also valued privacy and cherished meaningful moments with those closest to him. His family respectfully asks that his wishes for a joyful remembrance be honored.
David leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, strength, and adventure. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on through his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In honoring David’s memory, may we strive to live as he did—with kindness in our hearts, generosity toward others, and an appreciation for every adventure life has to offer. He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
