Dale Lewis Wadsworth, 75, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Born on April 21, 1951, in Dallas, Texas, Dale spent his childhood in Midlothian, where he attended school and built the strong values that would guide him throughout his life. At just 17 years old, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He proudly served in the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, the legendary "Screaming Eagles," during the Vietnam War. Though he carried the physical and emotional scars of war throughout his life, he remained proud of his service and the sacrifices made alongside his fellow soldiers.
After returning home, Dale met the love of his life, Patti. They were married on February 9, 1973, beginning a remarkable journey together that spanned 53 years. Together they built a home, raised a family in Midlothian, Texas, and created a lifetime of cherished memories. In October 2017, they moved to Springtown, Texas, to be closer to their daughter and her family.
Dale retired from the United States Postal Service after many years of dedicated service as a letter carrier. Retirement did not slow his desire to serve others. He devoted his time to prison ministry, sharing hope, compassion, and the message of God's grace with those who needed it most.
His Christian faith was the foundation of his life. Dale loved the Lord deeply and never wavered in his belief that Jesus Christ was his Savior. He was a faithful and proud member of Faith Baptist Fellowship in Springtown, where he found fellowship, purpose, and spiritual family.
Outside of work and ministry, Dale had a lifelong love of music, especially Texas Blues. Whether listening to or playing his favorite music or spending time with those he loved, he found joy in life's simple pleasures.
Above all else, Dale was devoted to his family. He often said that his greatest accomplishment and legacy were his children and grandchildren. His love, guidance, strength, and unwavering dedication to them will continue to be felt for generations.
Dale is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Patti Wadsworth of Springtown, Texas; his son, Clinton Wadsworth and wife Debra of Springtown, Texas; his son, Robert "Chad" Wadsworth and his partner Rebecca Wolfensberger of Alvarado, Texas; his daughter, Shelby Morrison and husband Ryan of Azle, Texas; his grandchildren, Matthew Morrison of Azle, Texas, Casey Morrison of San Marcos, Texas, and Carol Wadsworth and Alice Wadsworth of Springtown, Texas.
He is also survived by his brothers, Johnny Wadsworth and wife Billie of Midlothian, Texas; Don Wadsworth and wife Kat of Midlothian, Texas; and Gary Wadsworth and wife Grace of De Leon, Texas; his sister-in-law, Barbara Blassingame and husband J.D. of Lufkin, Texas; along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C. O. Wadsworth and Eula Wadsworth; his parents-in-law, D. R. Akin and Delores Akin; his beloved sisters-in-law, Jackie Wadsworth and Kalisa Cain; and a host of loved ones and cherished friends who welcomed him home.
Though his family grieves his passing, they find comfort in knowing that Dale's faith has become sight and that he is at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
In accordance with Dale's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements have been finalized.
The family asks that those who knew Dale honor his memory by loving their families well, serving others with compassion, and never taking for granted the blessings of faith, friendship, and freedom.
