Education/ Career
Cynthia was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on 9/24/1945 to Frank Ewing and Mary Frances Thomas. She graduated from Odessa Permian High School and Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. After graduation she pursued a career as flight attendant for Delta Airlines for several years and later retired from Southwest Airlines in 2005 after 19 years of dedicated service. Always courteous and thorough, she received dozens of letters of commendation and awards. The last few years she worked for Express (a medical courier), and enjoyed her job, co- workers and boss every day. Cynthia was blessed with an outgoing, sweet and humble personality that attracted many friends and colleagues. Above all, she loved the Lord who gave her the grace and strength to endure her long struggle with Alzheimer’s.
Activities
Cynthia enjoyed politics, music, sports, and flying. Her greatest love was spending time with family and entertaining the children. She was a dog lover who shared her life with many beloved four- legged companions.
Survivors
Cynthia is survived by her loving family- sister Fran Smith, brothers Frank and partner Gigi Garza and Willie Thomas, Nieces Cindy Swieter, Sharon Lamar, nephew- in- law Roger Lamar, nieces Libby Dickey nephew- in- law Craig Dickey and niece Frankie Thomas, her great nieces Amber Swieter, Ashley Swieter and Aubrey Swieter. Great nephews Harrison Taylor and Lou Lamar, her cousins Ellen and husband Ken Scercy and family. And her special friends Jody White, Dianna and August Meyer and Judy Thomas.
Memorial Service will be held at the Masonic Retirement Center, at 1501 W. Division St. Arlington, TX 76012 at 2:00 pm on January 13, 2018.
