Charlie was born to Charlie T. Yeomans and Vita Mae Sellete on December 27, 1938 in Kissimee, Florida. He was the oldest of eight children - Phil, James, John, Steve, Carla, Gene and Penelope.
He graduated from Manatee High School, in Bradenton, Florida in 1958.
As a young man, Charlie received Jesus as his Savior and lived his life to the glory of God.
His greatest interest was aviation, so much so that before graduating from high school he was able to obtain his pilot’s license.
After graduation, he went into the United States Air Force, ending his service of four years stationed at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Ks being discharged at the rank of Sergeant in February, 1966.
On June 19, 1965 he married the love of his life of 58 years, Melva Jean Grubb of Topeka, Ks.
Upon leaving the Air Force, he continued in his intense interest in aviation returning to Florida with Melva Jean, and his two daughters, Lora Ann and Wanda Sue where he gained employment with various aerospace companies such as Piper, Grumman, Pratt & Whitney, and the Stuart Airport.
On October 10, 1969, his son, Cary Thomas was born in Stuart, Florida.
In November, 1975, he moved his family to Dover, Ks (just outside the Topeka area). He then obtained employment as an over-the-road transporter.
In May of 1979, he was employed by General Dynamics in Ft. Worth, Tx.
He then moved his family to Ft. Worth, Tx where he worked for General Dynamics/ Lockheed Martin, for 31 years as an aircraft inspector, retiring July 1, 2010.
He loved talking about the Lord, listening to messages and teachings about Christian living and Theology. He placed the Holy Bible at its most highest place as the Most Holy Word of God. In his younger years he had a desire to preach alongside his brother, Steve.
Charlie was deeply fond of his last pet friend, Tippy, and loved other pups and kitties that came as strays or as “grand-dogs.” He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, to the point of it being detrimental at times.
He enjoyed air shows, motor car races, and traveling to many states to see the country.
He was a very friendly person. People enjoyed visiting with him as he did so in a most entertaining fashion. He loved to share his stories!
Charlie was a member of Capstone Church, in Benbrook since its beginning.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Phil, Steve and Carla and his pet friend, Tippy.
He is survived by his wife Melva Jean, two daughters, Lora Ann Yeomans, Wanda Sue (Dan) O’Grady, son, Cary Thomas (Jessica) Yeomans; five grandchildren, Derrick Dale (Cydni) Kelly, twins, Lisa Lewrynn (Lawrence) Miranda, and Susan Nicole Kelly, Joshua Duane (Christina) Kelly, Janell Renee’ (Ryan) O’Grady and five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Kelly, Jayden and Korbin Kelly, Donavyn and Kaelyn Smith.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Capstone Church, Benbrook, Tx.
A Military Honor Guard and Pastor Parkey Cobern, presiding over the service.
There will be fellowship and lunch following the service at the church.
