Billy Wayne Allred, a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, at age 89. Bill was a Texan at heart, calling Hurst home for over 60 years and living a life rooted in family, service, and community.
Bill proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as part of the Strategic Air Command and carried that patriotic spirit throughout his life. He went on to have a long, respectful career with the FAA, while proudly raising two sons with his beloved wife of 50+ years, Earline, until her passing in 2011.
Bill was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Hurst, where his Sunday school class felt like family. He loved being part of church events and cherished his church friendships. He started and coached the church softball team for years, becoming a mentor and second dad to many.
His birth certificate said Alabama, but everything else about him said Texas. As a loyal Longhorn fan, he was rarely seen without his signature burnt orange. The only exception was when LSU baseball took the field, he proudly traded colors to support family.
Bill (and Earline) shared a deep love for travel, exploring the country together and creating unforgettable memories with their boys along the way. He loved ski trips with family and friends, and in later years, especially enjoyed riding his motorcycle on the open road.
Bill served for years as a Citizens on Patrol volunteer in Hurst, proudly looking out for his neighbors. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel at home.
Bill is survived by his sons, Shane and his wife Kelly, Stacy and his wife Krischena. He was also a proud grandpa to Amber, Anna, and Aidan Allred, and step-grandpa to Braeden Aguilar and her husband Ulysses, and Madeline McKinney and her husband Michael, as well as 3 great grandchildren.
Bill is also survived by Jim Allred and his wife Kelley, whom he called his “little brother,” and Beverly and her husband Gary, always his “baby sister,” along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. In later years, Bill found comfort and companionship with Margie Fairley, who also survives him.
Bill will be remembered for his big heart and his humor. His presence was unforgettable. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Hurst on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Hurst Police Department or the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco.
