She graduated from Indiana University and later went on to get her master’s in interior design at UT Arlington. She started her interior design career with Pratt Box Henderson in Dallas, Texas, and for the last 25 years she worked in real estate in Arlington, Texas.
She was an expert across multiple textiles, including needlepoint, sewing, weaving, and knitting. She enjoyed creating wearable garments and accessories for her friends and family. She was an avid reader throughout her life and was enthusiastic about art, she always enjoyed visiting the museums. Her pets brought her joy and happiness throughout her life.
She is survived by her son, Alan Jurgens, his wife Stephanie Jurgens, their two children, Hunter and Hannah Jurgens. Her daughter, Sara Jurgens Cherney, her husband John Cherney, 4 grandchildren, Ashley Murphy, Catherine Murphy, Robert Murphy and Patrick Murphy. Her brother, Harold Schafer, his wife Diane, their two children Jenny Schafer, Lisa and Karl Herr and their two children.
The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at Birchwood of Richland Hills for the care and compassion they showed our mother in her final days.
