He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Maureen, who he cared for and loved deeply. Barry had three children, three stepchildren and twelve grandchildren. He was very proud of his family and loved them fully.
He was a bon vivant and raconteur, world traveler, and explorer, yet he loved returning to his homeland. Barry was a successful international businessman and serial entrepreneur who never fully retired.
He was a huge animal lover rescuing so many dogs and cats over the years. He was also very passionate about giving back to his community: from reading to kids at school, mentoring troubled children, being a foster grandfather, building buddy benches for elementary schools to building ramps so people could re-enter their homes.
He had a passion for music and was an avid sportsman from playing cricket and football in his early years at Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital School to later in life squash, tennis and pickleball. His joy of life, sense of humor and love will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Barry’s request was not to have a memorial service. His immediate family held a private celebration of his life where we shared photographs, stories and memories of a life well lived. If you’d like to make a donation in his honor please choose a favorite charity of yours that you know he’d love.
