It is with profound love and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Aaron Thomas Halverson, 55, of Grapevine, Texas—a devoted husband, father, son, and friend. Aaron’s kindness, wisdom, and humor touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. As husband to Kathryn (“Katie”) Marie Bellinghausen Halverson for 25 years, Aaron brought joy, strength, and laughter into their home, making cherished memories with family and friends along the way.
Aaron was born in Madison, Wisconsin, the eldest of four siblings, and spent his formative years in Kennewick, Washington. From an early age, his adventurous spirit and determination shone through, setting the stage for a life filled with service and accomplishment. After high school, Aaron answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he dedicated six years—attaining the rank of Petty Officer Second Class and earning an honorable discharge. His commitment and excellence were recognized with the National Defense Service Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, and a Meritorious Unit Commendation.
Transitioning from military service, Aaron embraced new challenges with equal enthusiasm. He relocated to Texas to pursue higher education at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he earned both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. Aaron’s academic dedication was matched by his drive in the professional world, beginning his career at Clover Technical before joining Bell Helicopter.
For the past 20 years, Aaron played a pivotal role at Bell Helicopter/Textron, contributing to the advancement of aviation technologies that shaped the industry. He was awarded five patents for his innovative work, and his expertise resonated across teams in Tennessee and Canada—where his colleagues valued not only his technical acumen but also his willingness to mentor, share ideas, and foster collaboration. Aaron’s influence extended beyond projects; he inspired those around him to strive for excellence and integrity. He maintained professional certifications such as RCDD and held memberships with AEE, IEEE, and BICSI, reflecting his commitment to lifelong learning.
Aaron’s personal life was as rich as his career. In 1998, a fateful family dinner invitation introduced him to Katie, the youngest of five daughters in the Bellinghausen family. Their connection was immediate, and after almost two years of courtship, they married on September 23, 2000. Together, Aaron and Katie built a home filled with warmth, generosity, and traditions that would become family legends.
Aaron relished being involved in his children’s lives. During his son Kevin’s Boy Scouts years, Aaron was the mastermind behind “legendary” Pinewood Derby car designs—some sleek, some intentionally quirky. His inventive approach sparked friendly competition among the scouts. Aaron also found joy in running the Raingutter Regatta, with enthusiasm and good-natured rivalry.
With daughters Emily and Ashley, Aaron participated in the Indian Princess program, embracing his roles as “Fire Starter,” Assistant Chief, and eventually Chief of the Hopi Tribe. Each gathering was filled with storytelling, campfire songs, and playful games, strengthening bonds and creating memories that his daughters will always carry with them.
Aaron was the “go-to” person for projects—always ready with tools and a smile, especially for Katie’s late parents who lived nearby. His helpfulness extended to family, friends, and neighbors alike. Travel was another passion, whether returning to Washington State, joining in on Bellinghausen family vacations, or exploring new countries, Aaron approached each adventure with curiosity and joy. In 2023, he and Katie joined family for a tour of Ireland, sharing laughter at local pubs and marveling at the lush countryside. Their travels in Italy and Germany in the following years added yet more chapters to their story, filled with new experiences and cherished moments.
Aaron’s hobbies included camping, scuba diving, and jet-skiing—activities that brought him closer to nature and the ones he loved. His legacy will live on in the stories, laughter, and traditions he created, as well as in the kindness he always extended to others.
Aaron is survived by his beloved wife Katie; son Kevin (Grace) and grandson Aiden, daughters Emily and Ashley; parents Tom and Linda Halverson; siblings Brian (Denise), Wendy Halverson-Shima, Margot Wilder; many nieces, nephews, grandniece, and grandnephews. Each carries a piece of his spirit forward.
