

Steve Uzelac of Milton, Georgia, passed away on July 6, 2026. He was born on May 30, 1943, in the Bronx, New York, where he was also raised. He graduated from Evander Childs High School where his leadership abilities were recognized and applauded. In adulthood, he resided in Putnam County until he moved to Georgia in 1995. Steve was an accomplished woodworker from an early age, and was an active member of the Carpenters Union Local 608 in New York City. He enjoyed a stellar career as a carpenter and builder, both in New York and in Georgia. He was an astute businessman and entrepreneur. With his wife, he owned retail, construction and restaurant businesses. He created the community service program within the judicial system in New York, and he was a federal firearms dealer as well. He excelled in many creative processes, specializing in beautiful hand-tooled leather items, fine wood-working projects, building show sets, and professional photography in all genres, such as theatrical productions and headshots. He loved teaching and mentoring, cooking and traveling abroad. His favorite times were when he could enjoy and help his family, which he deemed the most important part of his life. He was blessed with an incredibly sharp wit and sense of humor, and had the ability to brighten everyone’s day with an infectious smile, a kind word and a funny remark, even to those he met for the first time. His outlook on life truly inspired many. Steve is survived by his wife, Linda Uzelac, his children Karen and Reese Uzelac, his step-children Andrew and Vincent McGrath, and his three grandchildren Vincent Jr., Selena and Jack. Services have not yet been planned at this time.
