Oren graduated from Gunnison High School in 1948 and attended Snow College before serving an LDS mission in the Texas-Louisiana Mission. He later proudly served his country during the Korean War from February 1953 to December 1954.
Oren married his sweetheart, Vivian Mae DeVore, in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple on October 28, 1955. Together they shared more than 70 years of marriage and raised three children: Gary, Michael, and Barbara. Their family grew to include 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, with two more great-grandchildren on the way.
Oren worked as an accountant for Beeline Refinery and later continued his education in business and accounting. In 1969, he moved his family from Utah to Cody, Wyoming, where he helped build their home. In 1972, the family moved to the Atlanta, Georgia, area, which became their home for the remainder of their lives.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Oren faithfully served in many capacities, including bishop, stake clerk, scoutmaster, young men’s leader, patriarch, and temple sealer. One of his greatest joys was giving patriarchal blessings to his grandchildren.
Oren will be remembered for his unwavering faith, love of family, dedication to service, strong work ethic, and the many lives he touched throughout his 95 years.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian; his children and their spouses Gary (Melo) Hansen, Michael Hansen, and Barbara (Bobby) King; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Verna Averett, Val Jean (Marian) Hansen, Stephen (Janet) Hansen, LaRell (Debra) Hansen, Irene (David) Brown, Scott (LuAnn) Hansen, and Sherry (Ed) Allred.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mariel & Etta Hansen, his sisters Bonnie, DeAnna, and Ilene, and his brothers-in-law, Leo and Gene.
