Lee Thomas Shepard, age 74, was born June 6, 1951, in Hampton, Virginia to the late Lester and Eva Mae Shepard. He departed this life on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Reliable Health and Rehabilitation Center while undergoing Hospice Care. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Eva Mae Shepard, one brother: Linwood Shepard, and three sisters: Bessie Lee Winston, Bernice Hill and Joyce Haughton.
Lee lived with his parents until his young adult years, and decided to relocate to Bridgeport, Connecticut to live with his sister. Several years later, Lee enlisted in the United States Army traveling to all parts of the world. During those years of service, he was destined to meet his lifelong friend, Anthony Hill. After 20 years of service and accomplishing the rank of Staff Sargent, Lee retired from the army. After retirement, Lee settled in Decatur, Georgia where he met and married Patricia Moten-Shepard. During Lee’s retirement, he was an avid gardener. He loved planting flowers, and he would always say: “God created man to tend the garden”. He created his very own Garden right here on earth and named it after his mother. He called it “Eva’s Garden”.
Lee is survived by his wife, Mrs. Patricia Moten-Shepard; his daughter, Stephanie (Reginald) Alston; three grandsons: Preston, Pierce, and Porter Alston; three sisters: Pamela Johnson, Patricia Shepard-Murphy (Cyrus), and Mildred Bass (Larry); a very close friend: Tony (Shevella) Hill and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins..
